Liverpool researchers have secured £2.66m Medical Research Council funding to develop and trial a novel immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer which is currently one of the hardest cancers to treat. The cancer vaccine is developed using an innovative technique known as 'doggybone' DNA - so-called because the produced DNA is shaped like a dog's bone - that makes it faster to produce than other similar cancer vaccines. Professor Christian Ottensmeier - Director of Clinical Research and a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - is the chief investigator.

Patients who took part in the CQC's National Inpatient Survey 2022 - the results of which are published today - have rated The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust one of the best hospitals in England for the fourth year running. Its flagship, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool, was also rated the best cancer hospital nationally for inpatient care. Every patient has their own individual en-suite room with extra touches for a 'home from home' feel.
