Caron Robb, Gynae Clinical Nurse Specialist

I’ve always wanted to be a nurse but didn’t know I would end up in oncology - it was just an area of interest that stemmed in my training and captured my interest. I completed my nurse training before gaining some general nursing experience on an oncology medical ward and really enjoyed it. After this I moved into chemotherapy delivery which provided a good basis of treatment knowledge and lots of transferable knowledge for any future roles.

Since joining the Trust back in 2020 as a Chemotherapy Staff Nurse, I progressed to a Senior Chemotherapy Nurse position, before stepping into a Deputy Ward Manager post. I then moved from this post to my current role as a Gynae Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).

The role of a CNS really interested me as it’s about meeting an individual’s care needs in a personalised way, being able to offer advice, support and empowering patients to be involved in their care. This, combined with my interest in gynaecology cancers and their treatment is what inspired me to pursue a career in this field of nursing. It’s a real privilege to care for, support, and get to know our patients through their cancer journey.

I’ve felt incredibly supported in all of my positions at Clatterbridge, with amazing colleagues and managers who have mentored me throughout my time here. CCC is a Trust that supports and encourages you to progress in skills and knowledge which helps me to continually improve and provide the best care that I can.

To anyone thinking about starting a career with us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and speak to someone, we’re always happy to offer advice.
