Infection control

Please help protect our patients...

There are lots of seasonal bugs around, all year round but especially flu during winter months. If you suspect that you, or someone you are with, may have an infection, please read and follow the guidance below.

If you are a patient...

Please ring us before you attend for your treatment if you have a fever and feel generally unwell or aching with any combinations of the following symptoms;

  • Coughing or sneezing
  • Diarrhoea and vomiting
  • A new rash
  • Sore, red, watery eyes
  • Especially if you've recently travelled or had contact with someone with a known infection such as flu or norovirus

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Hotline 0800 169 5555

Haematology patients should ring 0151 318 8625

For Bone Marrow Transplant 0151 318 8632

If you are already here, please inform staff immediately upon entering the department. This is so that we can see you separate, to prevent the infection from spreading to other patients. You may be asked to wear a mask to contain any coughs or sneezes.

If you are a visitor...

And you suspect that you may be developing an infection or if you already have an infection, please make arrangements not to visit until you are better.

The symptoms listed above can be sometimes due to seasonal viral infections which often resolve with over the counter medications, rest and sleep but can cause much more serious illness in our patients. Please avoid visits until two days after symptoms clear.
