Get to know Daniel
Q. Introduce yourself…
A. #Hellomynameis Daniel. I’m a student nurse and have a passion for both public health and birds! My role as a volunteer here at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is to help out both staff and patients in any way I can – from taking patients to their outpatient appointments to helping staff on the wards.
Q. Why did you choose to volunteer at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool?
A. I wanted to volunteer at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool for three reasons:
- To help out at the hospital
- To help prepare for my career in nursing
- To contribute to the patients’ experiences of cancer care
Q. How do you think your role as a volunteer will contribute to improving patient care?
A. Being someone who is there to help patients and visitors whilst in hospital can have a huge impact on their experience.
Q. What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
A. Listen to understand, not to reply.
Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you have to have with you?
A. A compass, a raft and a book titled ‘how to escape a desert island’.
Q. What would people be surprised to discover about you?
A. I know a lot of obscure facts about birds!
