CCC Monthly Recap - August '22

SEPTEMBER ALREADY! Where has the time gone?! It wasn’t long ago we were all together at Glow Green (p.s. more news on Glow Green 2023 coming soon!). With Christmas just around the corner *eyes emoji*, we wanted to look back on a month which saw the return of Challenge Cancer Cycle, as well as, a visit from some of the Mowgli – Bold Street staff & our fabulous supporter’s W O Sheeran Farms holding a Pony Party

Challenge Cancer Cycle: Aintree!

We hope everyone who took part in Challenge Cancer Cycle: Aintree, on Sunday 21st August, enjoyed the challenge, with 25, 40 & 80 mile routes available to choose from.

Starting and finishing at Aintree Racecourse, the 25 mile route took in views through Aughton, through Ormskirk & back to Aintree, the 40 mile route went up around Parbold & Appley Bridge, with the 80 mile route taking in the Rivington area before heading back to Aintree.

As with all of our amazing events, every penny raised goes directly towards the incredible work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, by taking part you are helping us to deliver pioneering cancer care to patients throughout our region, with this year’s Challenge Cancer Cycle raising over £20,000!

If you haven’t already checked out some of the pictures from the day, head here.

Mowgli Staff Visit - Celebrating raising £176,000!

We had a visit from some of the staff from Mowgli on Bold Street & we were able to give them a tour around The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool!

The team there have raised an incredible £176,000 since 2014 by putting £1 on their bill among other fundraising activities. Nisha Katona, founder of Liverpool-based Mowgli Street Food, is a long-standing supporter of our charity. Back in 2018, she said: “At Mowgli, charity is very much part of the ethos (at Mowgli), we are very proud of the money raised for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity”.

A massive THANK YOU to W O Sheeran Farms

We wanted to say thank you to family and friends of W O Sheeran Farms for their fantastic Pony Party in support of our charity.

Organiser Lucy Newman, whose dad Michael was cared for at Clatterbridge explains why her family organised the event: “As a family we decided to raise money for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity after the Centre looked after someone close to us. The staff treated him with dignity, respect, a huge amount of skill and knowledge, and a barrow load of scouse humour!

We couldn't have asked for anymore from the admin team, porters, doctors, nurses and volunteer drivers. They were brilliant! Unfortunately, cancer won this time, but that made it even more important to raise as much money as possible, to support Clatterbridge’s life-saving research.

#

Through funeral donations, and our recent ‘Pony Party’. We have raised £1301 to help the Centre continue helping their patients. The ‘Pony Party’ involved us running pony events with family and friends; from apple bobbing with horses, to competing for the perfect dressage round!

Cancer has touched the lives of so many, and they want to support the amazing work Clatterbridge does. A huge thank you to the local companies who supported us.”
