Lung cancer
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Support Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist: Lung Cancer
Here at the Centre there are two lung cancer nurses to support patients and their carers.
They are here to help patients with lung cancer and their families to cope with the difficulties and anxieties that lung cancer may cause, and offer information about lung cancer, the different treatment types, as well as advice and support to the lung cancer patient and their family.
Support can help the patient and family cope with the illness, the effects of treatment and any fears and worries about the future. Symptoms such as breathlessness or pain that are causing concern or anxiety can also be helped with.
They work in partnership with other nurses, doctors, radiographers and other healthcare professionals, providing an important link between The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, local hospitals and GP surgeries.
Contact
If you are currently attending the Centre and wish to see a member of the team you can contact them directly Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm on 0151 556 5346. Or, ask your doctor, nurse or radiographer, who will contact the nurse on your behalf.
A telephone answering service is also in operation and calls will be returned within 24 hours during the week unless the outgoing message directs otherwise.
The nurses are not available at weekends or Bank Holidays but a trained oncology nurse is always available to answer queries. Telephone the hospital on 0151 556 5000 and ask for the senior nurse on duty.
