Head and neck cancer
The Macmillan Head and Neck Cancer Nursing Service provides comprehensive and holistic care for patients receiving radiotherapy, chemotherapy or both.
The service offers:
- advice and support for patients and their carers regarding treatment and possible side effects
- psychological support
- comprehensive information about head and neck cancer, planned treatments (radiotherapy and chemotherapy) and follow-up care
- close liaison with other agencies to provide continuity of care
- a contact and resource for patients and their cares whilst receiving treatment at the Centre
- information about useful organisations and patient support services
- time to discuss problems and issues of management
- smoking cessation
- practical advice regarding laryngectomy/tracheostomy care
- practical advice regarding gastrostomy and PEG feeding

At the weekends and bank holidays please contact the hospital on 0151 556 5000 and ask for the senior nurse on duty.
