After graduating from PGIMS Rohtak, Dr Mehta did her radiotherapy and oncology training in one of India's most prestigious institutes (PGIMER, Chandigarh) and was awarded MD (Radiotherapy) in 2005.
She completed her postgraduate medical training in the UK, gaining MRCP (UK) and MRCP (Ireland). After completing four years of research at Churchill Hospital/Weatherall institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford, she was awarded PhD (Oncology) from the University of Oxford in 2014. She did her specialist training in Clinical Oncology at The Christie Hospital, Manchester, and obtained her FRCR (Clinical Oncology) in 2017. During her training at The Christie, Dr Mehta was awarded a NIHR academic clinical fellowship and clinical lectureship.
Dr Mehta joined The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in July 2019. She specialises in central nervous system cancers and breast cancers. She has an extensive interest in research and is committed to improving outcomes in cancer patients, particularly in brain and breast cancers. She is principal investigator for many national and international clinical trials in these fields.
In 2022 Dr Mehta was appointed Deputy Director of Clinical Research at Clatterbridge.
