Dr Muhammad Saif is director of our stem cell transplant (BMT) and cellular therapy programme, as well as being clinical lead for our myeloid and BMT site reference group (SRG).

He completed his specialist training in Clinical Haematology in Manchester. During his training he was awarded a MD degree for research whilst working within the Stem Cell and Neurotherapies group in the University of Manchester. His research involved studying immunohaematology in stem cell transplantation and expanding the role of stem cell transplantation for novel indications.

Dr Saif worked in Manchester Royal Infirmary as a consultant in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy - one of the first UK centres accredited for CAR-T cell treatment within a NHS England commissioned service.

His clinical work involves myeloid disorders, stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy.

Dr Saif has authored peer reviewed papers, book chapters and guidelines in his specialist area of myeloid diseases and stem cell transplantation. He is actively involved in clinical and translational research in haematological malignancies, stem cell transplantation and cellular and gene therapy.

He is a member of BSBMTCT and EBMT. He is involved in the autoimmune disease working party of EBMT and the clinical guidelines subcommittee of BSBMTCT.
