Upon completing her clinical training at Oxford University, Dr Innes undertook postgraduate studies at the University of Liverpool.

Dr Innes specialises in breast cancer and urological cancers (bladder, prostate and penile); she is the co-investigator on a national oral antibiotics trial and the principal investigator on a number of breast and urological trials locally.

Dr Innes holds clinics at Whiston Hospital for breast patients and here at Clatterbridge for urology patients.
