TV programme highlights the groundbreaking work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre was featured in a special television broadcast to celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS.

Granada Television visited the hospital to highlight the groundbreaking work of The National Centre for Eye Proton Therapy over nearly 30 years.

Two patients Andrew Melling, 56, from Prenton, Wirral, and Sophie Jones, 33, from Warrington, (pictured above) who were both treated at the centre last year for eye cancer were featured.

Andrew, (pictured below) and Sophie shared their stories with viewers of the news programme which also featured interviews with staff in the department and a demonstration of how the treatment works.
