Road closure affecting traffic flow outside Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool

Posted 11th January 2022

We’ve been made aware that the one-way section at the top of West Derby Street will be closed for the next 6 months to assist construction work on the new Royal Liverpool Hospital. This is the part of West Derby Street that runs alongside Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool, going from Crown Street to the main junction with Edge Lane.

Traffic is diverted along Crown Street (A5048).

West Derby Street is a very busy thoroughfare throughout the day but particularly between 8am-10am and 4pm-6pm. This road closure will impact the volume and flow of traffic in that area so we would once again like to remind patients and carers to please use the free patient car parking at Mount Pleasant and the free shuttle bus service between the car park and the hospital. The street bay outside Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool is for pick-up and drop-off only and no waiting is allowed.

Traffic wardens regularly patrol this area, and to prevent any traffic or pedestrian accidents, it is very important that vehicles are not parked or stopped illegally on Pembroke Place/West Derby Street.

Please be aware of the road closure when planning your visit to Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool. All the information you need for parking or public transport to the hospital can be found here.
