NHS Staff Survey 2023 results published

Staff at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre have given their views about working at the trust in the annual NHS Staff Survey, scoring us better in every ‘theme’ compared to the 2022 results. The highest score staff gave us was for being compassionate and inclusive and our most improved area was for ‘always learning’ in the results published today (7th March 2024).
The annual NHS Staff Survey is one of the world’s largest workforce surveys. Scores are based on staff responses to questions aligned to the seven themes of the NHS People Promise as well as staff engagement and morale.
Our overall 2023 scores are benchmarked against other specialist acute trusts in England and we once again performed exceptionally well scoring above the sector averages in all areas.
Jayne Shaw, Director of Workforce and Organisation Development said: “To see an increase in every score compared to 2022 and know we are also above the sector averages in all areas proves the fantastic progress we are making against our ambition to be a great place to work.
“It came as no surprise to me that our highest score was for being compassionate and inclusive, our patients tell us all the time that the kindness and compassion of staff is what makes The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre great. It’s reassuring that colleague acknowledge this too. It was also great to see 70% of staff say they would recommend The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as a place to work - up from 64% last year.
“Our trust has a great collaboration of caring and skilful professionals, and we work hard to bring real and lasting improvements to our workforce so we can continue to drive improved outcomes and experiences of our specialist cancer care.”
