Joint Health Scrutiny Committee approves Transforming Cancer Care

Posted 30th December 2014

The Joint Health Scrutiny Committee for Cheshire and Merseyside has produced its final report on our Transforming Cancer Care proposals for a new cancer hospital in Liverpool.

The committee was set up in October by the eight local authorities to consider our Transforming Cancer Care proposals and decide whether they were in the best interests of their residents. At their final meeting in December, they voted unanimously in favour of the proposals, agreeing they would benefit local people.

Local authorities have a legal duty to scrutinise proposals for substantial variations or developments to health services in their area. Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Warrington and Wirral councils formed a joint committee to do this.
