Lauren McFerran appeared on Radio Merseyside to discuss her skin cancer diagnosis and treatment at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Lauren, 22, juggled surgery and radiotherapy with her studies, graduating in English from Liverpool University and training as a teacher after being diagnosed in January 2015 following a biopsy on a mole on her ear.

Lauren, from Wallasey, Wirral, appeared on the Breakfast show and told presenter Tony Snell that she was determined cancer wouldn't stop her becoming a teacher.

She only took two weeks off from university during the whole process, when she had surgery to remove her ear.

The newly qualified teacher also discussed her plans for a charity ball in January where she will raise funds for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

She is appealing to local firms to donate items for a raffle and auction on the night.

Lauren, who got her spaniel Milo after diagnosis, credits a positive attitude with helping her cope with her treatment.
