Industrial action by NHS junior doctors: 1st, 8th & 16th December 2015

Posted 24th November 2015

The BMA have balloted in favour of industrial action over the Government’s plan to introduce a new contract for junior doctors working hours.

The official period for the planned strike action is:

  • Emergency care only – 8am, Tuesday 1st to 8am Wednesday 2nd December 2015
  • Full withdrawal of junior doctors' labour – 8am to 5pm, Tuesday 8th December 2015
  • Full withdrawal of junior doctors' labour – 8am to 5pm, Wednesday 16th December 2015

We have been working with union colleagues to assess the likely impact of the strikes to ensure we can meet patients’ essential needs while respecting individuals’ lawful right to strike.

As a leading cancer centre our aim is to ensure we continue to deliver the best cancer care to our patients. Urgent and emergency care will not be affected and we will be contacting patients directly if any appointments need to be rescheduled due to the industrial action. Patients should continue to attend the Centre as normal unless we contact them directly to say otherwise.

When you arrive for your appointment, there may be a small, peaceful picket line beside the dual carriageway outside the Clatterbridge health park. There will be no picketing on the health park. Staff on the picket line will not attempt to stop people or traffic from entering the health park.
