Happy 1 year anniversary to our haemato-oncology colleagues

Posted 2nd July 2018

On 1st July 2017 we marked the one year anniversary of a major milestone in our plans to transform cancer care in the region - when we transferred over 120 members of staff from the Royal Liverpool University Hospital haemato-oncology service.

Thanks to the hard work, commitment and dedication of staff the integration of the service into The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has been a huge success.

Patient experience has not been affected and in May we improved the service further for patients by introducing electronic prescribing for chemotherapy, which simplifies the process of prescribing.

Currently the service is still located in The Royal until we open our new hospital, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre-Liverpool, in 2020.When the service moves into the new centre it will bring further benefits for patients. We will be able to introduce ambulatory and home chemotherapy, patients will be able to benefit from the full range of holistic services that The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre offers, inpatients won't have to travel for radiotherapy, young patients will have treatment in a bespoke TYA unit, and all patients will benefit from a state-of-the-art new cancer centre.
