A microlight pilot who flew to Canada and back to fundraise for The Clatterbridge Charity has received a top aviation award from HRH The Duke of York.

Jon Hilton, a law firm director from Bolton, Greater Manchester, has received the Britannia Trophy - said to be the most prestigious in aviation - from Prince Andrew.

He told his local paper, The Bolton News, that he felt lucky to be alive after facing icebergs, clouds and temperatures of -20C while flying the 5,000-mile round trip from Barton Aerodrome to Canada.

Jon raised a massive £12,000 for The Clatterbridge Charity, the only charity that directly fundraises for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, benefiting our patients and funding vital research equipment and support services that could not be provided by the NHS alone.

You can read more about Jon's amazing exploits on the Bolton News website.
