More than 60 delegates gathered in Liverpool for an insight into the work of four new Consultant Radiographers at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

The event, at Jury’s Hotel on the waterfront, featured a number of speakers over two days who shared their experiences of current practices and ideas for the future.

The four consultant radiographers started work at Clatterbridge earlier this year as part of an ongoing commitment to improving patient experience.

Dawn Ledsom specialises in breast cancer treatment, Michelle Cain and Phil Reynolds specialise in prostate cancer, whole Conor Fitzpatrick specialises in palliative radiotherapy treatment.

The aim of the conference was to share their experiences and to show how to develop and embed Consultant Radiographer practice into a radiotherapy department.

A number of Consultant Radiographers, including those from Clatterbridge, Physicists, Managers and a Clinical Oncologist presented their experiences of roles, job plans and adherence to the four domains of Consultant practice.

Among the speakers was Professor Carl Rowbottom, pictured above, who discussed the expectations of physicists.

The University of Liverpool also outlined the new online Radiotherapy MSc for Radiographers.
