Clinical Oncologists descend on Clatterbridge for mock exam

Posted 16th March 2018

Clinical Oncology trainees from all over the UK will be at the Centre this Saturday (17th March) to take part in the Clatterbridge FRCR mock exam.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Final FRCR Part B Mock Exam for Clinical Oncology has been running annually since 2014 and is now an established event on the Royal College of Radiologists calendar, raising the profile of the Trust both nationally and internationally.

Clinical Oncology trainees are required to pass the FRCR examination to enable them to take up a Consultant post. The Clatterbridge mock exam is an ideal 'dress-rehearsal' for the real FRCR exam, and this year’s course is a sell-out.

The course includes mock clinical and oral examinations and tutorials. The candidates are assessed by a team of examiners, which includes Clatterbridge consultants plus consultants from other Centres. The FRCR Mock Exam Organising Committee consists of Dr Khizar Hayat, Dr Clare Hart and Dave Lloyd plus specialist nursing input from Kate Green and patient liaison from Debbie Rankin and Sue Frowe.

Lead Consultant, Dr Hayat said: "Thanks to the support of our patients, who participate in the clinical part of the mock exam, the consultants and CCC staff who act as examiners and volunteers plus the backing of the CCC management team, this course continues to enhance the reputation of our Centre in the UK and internationally.”
