Our Chief Executive Liz Bishop was at NHSConfedExpo in Liverpool yesterday to speak in a special Novartis UK panel debate about health inequalities. Liz outlined some of the fantastic work we are doing with colleagues from Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance and colleagues across our region to address inequalities in cancer care. This is really important as people from some backgrounds may be more at risk of some cancers and/or less likely to get diagnosed early when their cancer is more treatable.

We want everyone in Cheshire & Merseyside to have equal access to the very best cancer care so we are working with others in our region to encourage people to see a health professional if they have any symptoms that could be cancer, and to make sure our services are accessible and meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve.

The other panel members were: Heather Moses, UK Medical Director of Oncology at Novartis; Rachel Power of the Patients Association, and Tariq White from Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon and Gloucestershire Cancer Alliance.

NHSConfedExpo is a major national healthcare conference organised by the NHS Confederation that has been taking place in Liverpool.
