Chief Executive chairs roundtable event on breast cancer

Posted 16th December 2022

Last week our Chief Executive Dr Liz Bishop chaired a private roundtable hosted by Novartis UK and Public Policy Projects on how to drive further action on breast cancer - in particular, addressing health inequalities. Liz is Senior Responsible Officer for Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance in addition to her role at Clatterbridge.

The session focused on the need for partners across healthcare to work together to tackle health inequalities, recognising the importance of inclusive clinical trials and equitable access to diagnostics and treatment. Using data and listening to community groups, particularly those with traditionally poor outcomes in breast cancer, is crucial in this.

The roundtable also featured Fiona Bride from Novartis UK, Dr Amish Acharya from Imperial College London, and Rachel Cashman, an expert in psychological safety, who all shared insights on the impact of health inequalities in breast cancer and some tangible examples of how teams are working locally to address them.
