Everton heroes Graeme Sharp and Ian Snodin helped mark World Cancer Day (4 February) by visiting patients at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

The duo visited the Centre to cheer up patients on the wards and meet the remarkable staff who care for hundreds of cancer sufferers every week.

By visiting The Clatterbidge Cancer Centre, Sharp and Snodin wanted to raise awareness of the disease and highlight the amazing work undertaken by staff every day.

Everton Football Club Ambassador Graham Sharp said: “We’re proud to support The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre this World Cancer Day. I was here last year to have a chat with the patients and it’s so humbling to come along and bring some light relief to those who are facing such a difficult time in their lives.

“One thing that always strikes me is how positive people can be when faced with adversity and I think the fantastic staff here have a big part to play in that. They work so hard every single day so it’s wonderful to meet them today and find out more about The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.”

Liz Morgan, Matron at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, added: “World Cancer Day is a global event to help raise awareness and educate people about cancer. Having the support of Everton on such an important day is fantastic for the Centre. Going through treatment can be a stressful time for our patients so having some special visitors come onto the wards really makes a difference. There are quite a few staff who look forward to their visits too!”
