Julie joined The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as Chief Nurse in October 2021 and has a longstanding commitment to improving the quality of care and experience of people with cancer, who are worried they may have cancer or who have completed treatment and are living their lives after cancer.

She joined us from The Christie NHS Foundation Trust where she was Director of Nursing and Director of Infection Prevention & Control.

Julie qualified as a nurse in 1993 after training in Salford and Bolton School of Nursing & Midwifery and spent the first years of her career as a staff nurse in gastroenterology, intensive care, adult medicine and general surgery.

After spending the next few years as a clinical tutor, Julie joined The Christie in 2005 as a specialist nurse in blood transfusion and moved into more senior roles there as a nurse manager and then director. She has a strong background in nurse education and professional development, and in transformation and methods for continually improving quality of care.
